About Leon Washington

Leon Washington (born August 29, 1982) is an American football running back from Jacksonville, Florida who currently plays for the National Football League's New York Jets. He was drafted in the fourth round of the 2006 NFL Draft (pick 117). At Andrew Jackson Senior High School, he won the Florida "Mr. Football" Award in 2001 and later committed to Florida State, where he would wear number 3. As a freshman at Florida State, he changed positions from cornerback, to the position he played in high school, to running back, where he would star throughout his collegiate career. He was drafted in the fourth round of the 2006 NFL Draft. The pick used to select Washington was obtained by the Jets from the Kansas City Chiefs, as compensation for former Jets head coach Herman Edwards.
