About Long Island University
Long Island University, chartered by the New York State Education Department in 1926 in Brooklyn as a nonsectarian, coeducational, privately supported university. Today, more than 11,300 students study, learn and grow at the original campus, located in downtown Brooklyn. The College of Pharmacy, the oldest unit of Long Island University, now named the Arnold & Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, was established as the Brooklyn College of Pharmacy in 1886. In 1947, yhe C.W. Post Campus was originally conceived to be a small liberal arts and sciences college. Today, this 307-acre, doctoral degree-granting campus is home to nearly 10,600 students.**
