About Mao Zedong

Mao Zedong (help·info) (December 26, 1893 – September 9, 1976) (also Mao Tse-Tung in Wade-Giles transliteration) was a Chinese Marxist leader and Chairman of the Communist Party of China (CCP) from 1945 until his death. He instigated several major socio-political programmes (some through collectivisation), including the Anti-Rightist Campaign, the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution, though these have been widely regarded as failures.
