Milos Forman

President of Czechoslovakia Vaclav Havel (C), former dissident playwright and leader of the Civic Forum (Obcanske Forum, OF), and his friend Czech-born US film director Milos Forman, celebrate 09 June 1990 at the Old City square downtown Prague, the OF's victory in general elections. As one of the results of the Velvet Revolution, the first democratic elections since 1946 were held in June, 1990, and brought the first completely non-communist government to Czechoslovakia in over forty years. At the end of 1989, Havel, who drafted large parts of Charter 77, the declaration which helped attract international attention to the civil rights abuses in Czechoslovakia, was elected first president of Czechoslovakia when the state-communist system crumbled in the Velvet Revolution.

Jan Tomáš Forman (Czech pronunciation: [ˈjan ˈtomaːʃ ˈforman]; born February 18, 1932), better known as Miloš Forman ([ˈmɪloʃ ˈforman]), is a Czech-American film director, screenwriter, actor and professor. Two of his films, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Amadeus, are among the most celebrated in the history of film, both garnering him the Academy Award as a director. He was also nominated for The People vs. Larry Flynt.
