A steak dinner for under $2?!

In a city where restaurants seem to open and close every day, it's impressive when one can withstand the test of time.

Whether it's evolving tastes that lead them astray or rents that skyrocket once an area becomes trendy, it's not easy to stay afloat in this competitive culinary city.

The latest restaurant having a landmark birthday is Frankie & Johnnie's Steakhouse, which will celebrate 80 years next week.

Why should you care? On Monday, the restaurant is rolling its prices back to 1926 -- the year the steak house opened.

Those dining at the flagship West 45th Street location on that day can enjoy an entire steak dinner for less than $2.

From 5-9 p.m., diners can choose from selections taken from the original Frankie & Johnnie's menu and pay the original menu prices. Start off with a 25-cent salad or shrimp cocktail for 40 cents. If you're trying to save money, go for the filet of sole for 85 cents. Big spenders can splurge on the most expensive menu items: filet mignon and sirloin steak, each $1.95. Side dishes go for about 25 cents, and dessert will set you back another 35 cents.
