Intent on satisfying cruise lovers eager for new destinations, cruise lines are adding more South American itineraries all the time.
Carnival will offer its first cruises on the continent next January; Royal Caribbean will significantly expand its South American presence late this year. Most ships sail between December and April, which is summer on the continent.
Here are some South American itineraries planned by major cruise lines through April. Rates are per person, based on double occupancy, and do not include port fees, taxes or airfares to and from ports. For more information on other lines with South American itineraries, visit the "Plan Your Cruise" section of the Cruise Lines International Association Web site, cruising .org.
