To participate in a Wayfarers’ Walk, it's best to be in shape. The company, which puts together hiking trips around the world, often has its participants ascending ancient stairs, strolling uneven cobblestone paths or even tiptoeing over river rocks. Because sore muscles can distract, Wayfarers has joined forces with fitness company Fit for Trips.  Through April 9, Wayfarers customers can get a 50 percent discount on a walk-specific fitness program, which start at $169 for a four-week plan, with a full exercise plan available for up to 15 weeks.
The Wayfarers offers 85 walks through 14 countries in 2010, including new Walks through England and Italy: Jane Austen Country is a six-day literary walk exploring the village lanes and footpaths of the Hampshire countryside in England. Wayfarers Walks start at $2,595 a person.
