Ovelia This Astoria, Queens newcomer features a charcoal grill and serves house-made sausages, along with a host of classic Greek dishes. Fans of Greek street-fair foods will delight upon discovering loukoumades ($6) on the menu. The dessert, consisting of honey dough balls fried and covered with cinnamon, is a delicious cousin of the doughnut. 34-01 30th Ave; (718) 721-7217

Virgil's Real BBQ This BBQ joint may be located in the heart of Times Square, but the customers inside are a mix of in-the-know locals and tourists. In addition to platters of ribs and po' boy sandwiches, you'll find Oklahoma State Fair corndogs ($7.95), an appetizer, on the menu. 152 W. 44th St; 212-921-9494

Vento Trattoria Stephen Hanson's rustic Italian place in the Meatpacking district serves season-inspired pastas and wood-oven fired pizzas as well as popular desserts like zeppole ($5), the crowd pleasing deep-fried dough balls found at street fairs. 675 Hudson St; 212-699-2400

A Salt and Battery Known for its authentic fish and chips, this tiny West Village eatery also offers street festival-worthy sweets. The guilt-inducing, superfluously fried desserts on the menu include an imported, deep fried Mars Bar ($3.52), deep fried bananas ($3.25), and deep fried pineapple fritters ($3.52).112 Greenwich Avenue; (212) 691-2713
