Type: City and Town beach Price:

Resident parking is $5 daily, one-year seasonal $15 ($10 if purchased before Memorial Day weekend), $5 for seniors, veterans and handicapped when purchased in advance. Nonresident parking at Sound and bay beaches $20 daily; one-year seasonal permit $250; weekly rate $100. Ocean beaches are on Fire Island side of Great South Bay and accessible by ferry or boat (631-451-6100, brookhaven.org).

Description:

Fishing pier, nature center, playground, food stand; swim lessons (fee). Surfers can put their boards in the water year-round anywhere to the east and west of lifeguarded areas.


 

Hours:

Lifeguards: 10:30 a.m.-6 p.m.Memorial Day weekend (May 28-30) and weekends June 4-Sept. 4. Open 11 a.m.-6 p.m. weekdays from July 1-Sept. 5.

3,450 feet on the Sound
