Conceived by Robert Moses in the mid-1920s, Jones Beach stretches over 6.5 miles. Lifeguards patrol the waters during the season, making it a safe place for kids to swim and surf. The West Bathhouse has a pool. Zach’s Bay stretches one –half-mile with calm waters for young children, with a playground in close proximity to the water. Umbrellas and chairs are available in all fields for a rental fee of $10 plus a refundable deposit of $10.  Specially made wheelchairs are available free of charge for those with mobility impairments on a first-come, first-served basis.
