Ruschmeyer's resort, as familiar to Montauk regulars as the lighthouse, has undergone changes in style and content.

The 3-acre complex, which dates to 1952, is now under King & Grove Hotels, which also operates The Surf Lodge.  Edibly speaking, the primary news is about Ruschmeyer's kitchen.

The new dining room replaces Second House Tavern. On the menu: raw shellfish, smoked bluefish; lamb terrine with cumin, yogurt and mint; steamed mussels; wood-oven pizzas; and main dishes such as grilled rib-eye steak, monkfish green curry, whole roasted porgy, fried spotted tilefish, roasted arctic char, and linguine with pesto.

Rooms feature queen beds, king beds or two double beds. Amenities include free WiFi, iPod docking stations and views of the lawn and Magic Garden. Suites are also available.
