Long Island students share their back to school must-haves

From fall boots and new book bags to fresh pens and notebooks, the back-to-school shopping list can seem never ending. We asked students at Hofstra University in Hempstead and Adelphi University in Garden City to share their back-to-school essentials with us. -- Minyvonne Burke and Meghan Giannotta

Jennifer Raab, 19, is an education and history major at Hofstra University. She said a large tote bag is at the top of her fall shopping list. “I literally carry everything in my bag; it has my life in it,” she said. (July 31, 2012)

Allison Kamin,19, is an English major at Hofstra University. She said a new pair of boots is her back-to-school necessity. "New season, new fashion, new clothes,” she said. (July 31, 2012)

Simona Byk, 25, is studying at Hofstra University to become a physician assistant. She said a bag to protect her computer is the most important item to grab before classes start. "I carry it so much it gets damaged easily, so I have to buy a new one every semester,” she said. (July 31, 2012)

Abdul Sada, 28, is a communications major at Hofstra University. He said money is his biggest back-to-school essential, so he can buy anything he might need. "That’s what I work for all summer, to save money so I have some when school starts," he explained. (July 31, 2012)
