Where to shop on Oahu

Waikiki is lined with expensive stores (Coach, Chanel, Escada, Armani) that seem more reminiscent of the Americana in Manhasset and Beverly Hills' Rodeo Drive, but there are less costly (though admittedly touristy) places to shop. The International Marketplace (2330 Kalakaua Ave., (internationalmarketplacewaikiki.com) is a flea market of sorts in a manufactured tropical setting where vendors line up beside a man-made waterfall.

In Honolulu's Ala Moana Shopping Center, Shirokiya (1450 Ala Moana Blvd., 808- 973-9111, shirokiya.com) is a two-level Japanese department store and deli with goods ranging from kimonos and electronics to dishes and dried squid, making browsing a kick.

ABC Stores (dozens of locations, abcstores.com) sells reasonably priced souvenirs, snacks, sandwiches and sundries.
