A man stands by a bridge at the lower part of the waterfalls in the original "Cave of the Winds," a cavern located behind the Bridal Veil Falls, circa 1890.
The cavern was originally spotted by Joseph Ingraham. And the first two people to explore it were Barry Hill White and George Sims. They named it "Aeolus' Cave," after the Greek god of the wind.
But Mr. Ingraham and others did not like the the name. So he renamed it "Cave of the Winds."
