Q Help, please, as we start to look toward spring break. My family wants to go someplace warm but do more than be at the beach.

A San Diego has a great zoo, Balboa Park, SeaWorld, oceanside bike trails, surfing lessons. You can take side trips to Coronado Island or even Los Angeles. On the East Coast, try the Tampa-St. Petersburg area. There are lots of museums, parks, beaches and activities.

Q I'd love some suggestions for a one-week Caribbean vacation in April. Can you suggest a Caribbean spot with good snorkeling, kayaking and land adventures? An all-inclusive would be great, but not overly important.

A Grand Cayman doesn't have many all-inclusives, but the snorkeling and beaches are very nice. Cozumel has some all-inclusives, and snorkeling is excellent. Both have kayaking. As for land adventures, there are probably more choices on Cozumel.

Q Can you recommend good scuba dive sites in Hawaii?

A There are great dive sites off Kona on the Big Island and wrecks off Oahu. On Maui, you can dive the Molokini Crater; Lanai has diving in its marine sanctuary. Dive shops on the major islands might have trips to several of these sites.
