Restaurant North
386 Main St. Armonk, NY 914-273-8686
This country chic spot serving locally sourced fare opened in 2010 and has never looked back. The dining room is minimalist, done in off-white with a bank of tall French doors that lead to a charming patio. With little to absorb ambient sound, the dining room can be noisy — if this is a concern, reserve a table in the quieter mezzanine.
Chef/co-owner Eric Gabrynowicz hails from the Union Square Cafe group, and his lusty, accessible style shows it: pork belly with cider glaze, cocoa-braised beef with polenta cake, sea scallops with seafood sausage and the not-to-miss “super awesome” chocolate chip cookie served in a skillet. The wine list is a nice document to read, but you’ll have to do some work to find bargains. Servers are well-trained and seem to like their work. -Bryan Miller
