Before he built Mount Snow in Vermont, Walt Schoenknecht opened Mohawk Mountain in Cornwall, Conn. It was here that he first experimented with snowmaking, which now makes it possible for resorts all around the world to remain open even when the weather doesn't cooperate. Today, Mohawk features 24 trails, a terrain park and 12 trails for night skiing. The mountain also features a Snow Hawk program to teach young skiers.

Monday-Thursday
9 a.m.-10 p.m. $30 (9 a.m.-6 p.m.) or (1-10 p.m.); $20 half-day lift ticket (9 a.m.-1 p.m.)(1-6 p.m.) or (4-10 p.m.). Beginner lift only, full session $28 adults and ages 5-15, free age 4 and younger; half session, $20 adults and ages 5-15, free age 4 and younger.

Ski packages and deals $62.00 includes beginner slope lift ticket, rental equipment and 1 1/2 hour lesson

Mountain Master ski or snowboard, $85.00 includes all area lift ticket, rental equipment and 1 1/2 hour lesson
Tuesdays and Thursdays are Snowhawk AM, snowhawk program for ages 5-9 at 10 a.m..
Wednesdays are Parent Tot Discount Day -- $50 dollars at 10:30 a.m.
Fridays are Women Clinic Mornings, 9:30 a.m.-noon come ski with the girls for $65, includes lesson, lift and lunch.
