Just south of Hartford, Mount Southington offers 14 trails, three freestyle terrain areas and eight lifts. All of the trails are available for night skiing.

FOR THE KIDS
Ski Threes: A multi-person private lesson for you and your three-year-old. Trained instructors show one or both parents how to introduce their child to skiing with the help of some useful learning tools, one-hour lesson is offered noon weekends and holidays, must register, $72
4-Hour Polar Bears: The 4-hour Polar Bear session for ages 6-10, runs on weekends and holidays from 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m., with 1 1/2 hour break for lunch at noon, child is grouped according to skill and age. Each student stays with the same instructor for the entire day, $70 no rental, $95 with rental, add $12 for supervised box lunch.
2-Hour Snow Foxes: Session follows the same format as the Four-hour Polar Bear's, perfect for the young skier ages 4-10 who is short on time and/or stamina, or for parents who would like to ski with their child for part of the day, lessons run 10 a.m.-noon or 1:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m., $50 no rental, $75 with rental.
1-Hour Penguins: Serves as an introduction to skiing for ages 4-5, each penguin is introduced to the equipment and introductory skiing skills, lessons are 10 a.m.-11 a.m. or 1:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m., $30 without rental, $50 with rental
All children's programs includes a lift ticket good until 5 p.m.
