The classic parade moved from the Magic Kingdom back to its original home, Disneyland Park, for the first time in more than 20 years. The parade, with thousands of twinkling lights and iconic characters, premiered in 1972. Through June 18, 2017, the parade will be led by the whimsical train pulling a giant drum.

A new winter festival at Epcot features new art, shows, culinary creations and more. Through Feb. 20, guests can check out a new art festival each weekend and a lagoon-side stage show at American Gardens Theatre with music performed by Broadway talent, including award-winning songs from "The Lion King," "Newsies" and "Aladdin." There will be exciting new food and beverage options during the festival as well.

Star Tours - the Adventures Continue, the attraction that uses a motion simulator-based technology, is getting a slight makeover. Instead of each ride experience launching from the planet of Jakku, the ride will be randomized to start and end in different locations.

This mystical world, based on James Cameron's movie "Avatar," is expected to open in summer 2017 at Disney's Animal Kingdom. The new 12-acre land immerses guests in the world of Pandora, which will glow by night with bioluminescent flora and special nighttime programming.

The Flight of Passage, part of Pandora - The World of Avatar at Disney's Animal Kingdom, is an attraction that launches guests on an "exhilarating, wind-in-your-face experience" on a winged banshee. Guests will feel the banshee breathe as they soar through Pandora. Before the ride, guests will become an "avatar" through a lab tank. This ride is expected to open in summer 2017.
Na'vi River Journey at Disney's Animal Kingdom(Credit: The World Disney Co.)
One of the attractions coming to Pandora - The World of Avatar will be the Na'vi River Journey. Guests will take an eight-seat raft as they glide through rock formations into a bioluminescent rain forest. This beautiful ride also features mysterious creatures, plants and a shaman.

Marvel Day at Sea kicks off on Disney Cruise Lines in 2017, a special trip on the Disney Magic departing from New York City this fall. Guests can meet Spider-Man, Captain America, Thor and other Marvel Universe superheroes on board; enjoy a deck dance party and trivia games featuring fun facts from the Marvel Universe; Marvel-themed games, activities, arts and crafts; and more. The Marvel Day at Sea will be on seven- and eight-night Disney Magic Bahamian cruises departing on various days in October and November.
Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: Breakout! in Disneyland(Credit: The Walt Disney Co.)
Tanaleer Tivan, the Collector from the "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie, will be part of a new attraction this summer at Disney California Adventure. Guests will be directly part of the story, with multiple, random and unique ride profiles set to the film's soundtrack. This attraction takes the place of The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.
New 'Star Wars' guided tour - Hollywood Studios(Credit: The Walt Disney Co.)
This seven-hour tour includes a "Star Wars" tour guide, priority boarding for Star Tours - The Adventures Continue, an encounter with Chewbacca and Kylo Ren, an in-depth tour of Star Wars Launch Bay, a screening of "Star Wars: Path of the Jedi," a "Star Wars"-themed menu during dinner at Backlot Express and a Galactic Spectacular Dessert Party and reserved viewing for the "Star Wars" fireworks show. Younglings ages 4-12 on the guided tour package can also train in the way of The Force in Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple. Priced at $129 per person, tours begin Jan. 2 and will be offered on Mondays and Saturdays throughout 2017.
New family raft ride at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park(Credit: The Walt Disney Co.)
A new family raft ride, Miss Adventure Falls, is expected to open in spring 2017. The ride is centered around Captain Mary Oceaneer, a treasure hunter who roamed the seven seas looking for artifacts, until a storm abandoned her at Typhoon Lagoon. This whitewater adventure will be one of the longest attractions (two minutes) at a Disney water park.

New restaurants are heading to Disney Springs in 2017. Paddlefish, from the former Fulton's Crab House, serves seafood, steaks and chops. There's also a new rooftop lounge for a late-night menu. A unique menu option: build-your-own boil. The Planet Hollywood Observatory serves up burgers and sandwiches created by celebrity chef Guy Fieri as well as craft cocktails and more. The Polite Pig (sister restaurant to the Ravenous Pig in Orlando) focuses on local cuisine, wood-fired, smoked and grilled items and serves all drinks on tap, including beer, wine and cocktails. Wine Bar George, sommelier George Miliotes' first wine bar, features small plates, more than 100 selections both by the bottle and the glass.

Inside the Star Wars Launch Bay in Disney's Hollywood Studios, guests can see replicas of movie props and models from "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story." Character meet-and-greets with characters such as Chewbacca will also take place.

A new Disney Vacation Club Resort, Copper Creek Villas & Cabins, is scheduled to open at Disney's Wilderness Lodge Resort in 2017. This includes plans for Deluxe Villas and waterfront cabins. There will also be a new bar and grill, a quick-service restaurant and Boulder Ridge Cove, an area with an expanded sun deck and zero-depth-entry pool, which mimics a beach setting.

This new after-dark show at Disney's Animal Kingdom features a mix of water, fire, nature and light choreographed to music. This will be Animal Kingdom's first nighttime experience, which opens Feb. 17, 2017.

Princess Elena from Disney Channel's "Elena of Avalor" will have meet-and-greets at Disneyland. This summer at Disney California Adventure, "Guardians of the Galaxy" characters will join Spider-Man and Captain America to greet guests at the Hollywood Backlot.

At the Shanghai Disney Resort, guests can explore the new theme park with VIP tour guides. In Australia, kayaking on Byron Bay, whale and dolphin spotting, an excursion to Mt. Tamborine and more have been added to the itinerary.

Named after Rizzo the Rat from the Muppets, PizzeRizzo opened in Hollywood Studios in the Muppets Courtyard area of the park. It's a quick service restaurant resembling a classic pizzeria. Personal-size pizza pies and meatball subs are served with a side Caesar salad. There's also antipasto salad, specialty drinks, cannoli, tiramisu and more.

The Disney Fantasy will be hosting the "Star Wars" Day at Sea in 2017, with special sailings to both eastern and western Caribbean. Guests will find dark side and light side fun, with special appearances of "Star Wars" characters, a deck party and fireworks, "Star Wars"-themed activities, at-sea screenings of "Star Wars" movies and more.The seven-night cruises set sail from Port Canaveral, Florida, on various dates through April.

Near Germany in Epcot, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs return to the festival this year. According to Disney, "topiary artists have found new ways to use a wider variety of plant materials to represent character topiary facial features, bringing Snow White's face to life." The festival, which runs 90 days, kicks off on March 1. Other new topiaries include Anna, Elsa, Belle and a six-foot-tall topiary of Figment, the dragon mascot of the park's Imagination.

Adventures by Disney is expanding to include sailings along the Rhine River in 2017. Sailing with AmaWaterways, a luxury river-cruise line, the new itinerary includes exploring four countries -- France, Switzerland, Germany and the Netherlands.

In collaboration with Varsity Spirit, a cheerleading organization, ESPN Wide World of Sports will open a new competition venue in 2017. It will include as many as four competition areas, the ability to seat more than 8,000 guests, can be configured for concerts and can accommodate six regulation basketball and volleyball courts.

During Season of the Force at Disneyland, Space Mountain is re-imagined as Hyperspace Mountain, where guests can join in an X-wing Starfighter battle through the darkness.

In 2017, Moana is making her way to Disneyland park in California, Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa in Hawaii. She will be available for character meet-and-greets.
