BRIDGEPORT - Trout fishing season is officially open.

The state says it stocked hundreds of lakes, ponds and rivers with about 400,000 trout in preparation for today.

The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection says about 750,000 more fish will be stocked during the season.

One fisherman told News 12 that although the fish weren’t biting, he was happy to get his bait back in the water.

Anglers say they expect to start catching more fish as the weather warms up.
