An Ulster County man sexually abused a 10-year-old girl, according to State Police at Kingston, who arrested the man Thursday.

Investigators arrested 34-year-old Jason M. Dewitt of Accord and charged him with two felony counts of a first-degree criminal sex act, as well as two misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Police didn't say how they were tipped off to the alleged sexual abuse or how Dewitt knew the alleged victim. State Police referred calls to the Ulster County Family Violence Investigation Unit. Phone messages left with the unit weren't immediately returned Friday afternoon when police announced the arrest.

Dewitt's arrest was the result of an investigation by State Police, the Ulster County Sheriff's Office, Town of Ulster Police and Ulster County Child Protective Services, cops said.

Dewitt was arraigned in Rosendale Town Court and was sent to Ulster County Jail on $20,000 cash or $40,000 bond bail. It was not immediately clear if Dewitt had retained an attorney.
