“50 Shades of Grey” may have found its sexy male star.

According to E! News, Irish actor Jamie Dornan is at the top of the short list to play S&M enthusiast Christian Grey in the upcoming film version of the erotic novel series, following the recent departure of Charlie Hunnam from the project.

“He had a really good read,” a source told E! News.

“50 Shades” film execs have been scrambling to find a replacement for “Sons of Anarchy” star Hunnam, who initially accepted the role but dropped out of the movie earlier this month. Hunnam reportedly quit because of his desire to stay out of the limelight and the intense pressure that came along with such a high-profile role.

Dornan would play opposite Dakota Johnson, who has been cast as Anastasia Steele. Said the source: “They think she could handle whoever the guy is.”
Matt Bomer and Ian Somerhalder have also been named as possible Hunnam replacements.
