Apple set to unveil 'iPad mini' Tuesday
Apple is holding a private event Tuesday reportedly to announce the launch of the iPad mini.
The invites include the tagline "We've got a little more to show you."
New gadgets are speculated to be an improved Mac Mini, updated iMacs, and a 13-inch MacBook Pro model with Retina Display, according to tech blogs.
Additionally, Apple promised a new iTunes in October at a September event held to announce the iPhone 5, leading some to believe an improved iTunes could also be announced Tuesday.
Rumors about the smaller iPad have run rampant online. Some speculative details include a 7.85-inch display without a retinal display, a high pixel per inch density, an A5 processor and 512MB of RAM. The 7.85-inches would be nearly two inches smaller than the current iPad model.
After the recent launch of smaller tablets by Samsung and Amazon, analysts have suggested there is a large consumer demand for a differently sized iPad.
Analysts expect sales of the purported iPad mini to do exceedingly well as long as they keep a competitive price point.
"[WE] believe a price point of $299 or $349 makes sense," Sterne Agee analyst Shaw Wu told AllThingsD.
Apple did not return requests for comment.
