Cops have arrested a career criminal in the murder of Andrea Hurd, 49, of the Melrose section of the Bronx, who was found stabbed and apparently thrown off a roof Wednesday afternoon.

After her body was discovered in a rear courtyard, police found Duvale Stevens, 35, inside Hurd's apartment at 367 East 154th St. Stevens was taken to the 40th precinct and charged with second degree murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.

Stevens, who lived nearby at 3318 Third Ave., has 11 prior arrests, including one for attempted murder, four for possession of a controlled substance, and others for grand larceny, burglary and two arrests for criminal trespassing, police said.

Neighbors told news reporters that Hurd was legally blind.
