Brittany Murphy, 32, dead from heart attack

Actress Brittany Murphy -- who appeared in “Clueless,” “8 Mile” and “Girl, Interrupted” – suffered a massive heart attack and died Sunday in Los Angeles.

Authorities are investigating the death of the 32-year-old actress, who reportedly struggled with drugs and an eating disorder, according to published reports.

Murphy denied those allegations and her spokesperson refuted reports that the temperamental star was fired last month from a film because she was too demanding and her husband, British screenwriter Simon Monjack, was fighting with locals.

Murphy’s mother discovered her unconscious in the shower at Monjack’s home at about 8 a.m., officials said. Paramedics tried to revive her, but she died at 10:04 a.m. at the hospital, said a spokeswoman, who would not provide additional information.

“The family thanks you for your love and support," a family rep told TMZ.

Born Brittany Bertolotti in Atlanta, she grew up in New Jersey and moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting. She dated actor Ashton Kutcher, who co-starred with her in “Just Married.”

“2day the world lost a little piece of sunshine,” Kutcher tweeted Sunday.

Murphy also performed as the voice of Luanne on Fox’s “King of the Hill” and for several years was on Maxim’s Hot 100 List and FHM’s 100 Sexiest Women List.
