The cop whose gift of boots to a man on the street became an Internet sensation said he isn't bothered that the man says he isn't wearing them.

All that matters to Officer Lawrence DePrimo is the fact that his deed seems to have encouraged other good acts.

The City Council honored the 25-year-old cop Monday with a proclamation after he bought Jeffrey Hillman a pair of new boots when he found the man barefoot and alone in Times Square last month.

A photo the NYPD posted of the charitable act on Facebook and Twitter went viral.

Hillman was shoeless when he was spotted recently and claims he keeps the expensive boots hidden because he doesn't want to be robbed.

But DePrimo said he's amazed by the feedback from people worldwide, who saw the photo and want to do more for the needy.
