Wait, so getting engaged in a custom-built igloo, renewing your vows every year, throwing lavish annual Halloween fetes and crowing about your amazing sex life doesn't guarantee marital longevity? Oh.

In a statement Sunday night, supermodel Heidi Klum and singer Seal - a seemingly perfect couple known for borderline bragging about their marriage, bedroom antics and love for each other - confirmed their separation after rumors swirled over the weekend that a divorce was imminent.

"While we have enjoyed seven very loving, loyal and happy years of marriage, after much soul searching we have decided to separate," a joint statement read. "We have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much, but we have grown apart. This is an amicable process and protecting the well-being of our children remains our top priority, especially during this time of transition."

The supermodel "Project Runway" host and the soulful singer - who wed in Mexico in 2005 and have renewed their vows every year since - have three children: Henry, 6, Johan, 5, and Lou, 2. Klum also has a 7-year-old daughter, Leni, from a previous relationship, whom Seal adopted.

According to TMZ.com, infidelity played no part in the split, but sources say Seal's temper and Klum's mega-entreprenurial career may have been factors.

As far as celebrity marriages go, we'll admit we did feel a pang when we heard the news. Unlike countless others, we really thought these two had a shot at making it work.
