Here are the 10 most powerful people in the world

President Obama is the most powerful person in the world, according to Forbes' annual ranking of earth's most influential people.

Riding high off his re-election, Obama held onto the No. 1 spot, which he has occupied three out of the last four years.

No. 2 this year is Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel, who moved up two spots from last year's list, followed by Russian President Vladimir Putin at No. 3.

Five New Yorkers made this year's list: Mayor Michael Bloomberg (16), News Corp. chief Rupert Muroch (26), JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon (34), Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein (36) and BlackRock CEO Larry Fink (42).
