Days after a political bribery scandal rocked the city, GOP mayoral candidate Joe Lhota offered solutions to curb corruption, and accused the Democratic front-runner, City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, of not doing enough to stop council members from abusing their power.

Speaking outside City Hall Sunday, Lhota said his proposals would make it difficult for elected officials to abuse their power and place harsher punishments if they break the law. "It is time to end this tsunami of sleaze and hold our public officials to a higher standard," he said in a statement.
