Queens man convicted of 2010 stabbing death on subway platform
A jury convicted a Queens man last week for a deadly stabbing on an elevated train platform two years ago, officials announced Monday.
Benjamin Moreira, 21, faces life for murdering Dario Paiva, 27, who he stabbed in the chest following a confrotion with the victim's younger brother on July 30, 2010.
Paiva was coming to his brother's aid when Moreira plunged the knife into his chest at the 85th Street-Forest Parkway station.
"This senseless stabbing has robbed a young man of his life and his family of his companionship," Queens DA Richard Brown said in a statement Monday.

Moreira was convicted of murder, manslaughter and evidence tampering following a two week trial.
The other people who were with him during the incident weren't charged, according to the DA's office.
