Sandra Lee's World's Largest Bake Sale to fight hunger at GCT Wednesday
Grand Central Terminal’s Vanderbilt Hall Wednesday plays host to an event that’s sure to delight many: the World’s Largest Bake Sale.
The event is hosted by celebrity chef, author and Emmy Award winner Sandra Lee, who will sell her strawberry cupcakes, and will feature baked goods prepared by over 30 restaurants around New York City. The event is co-chaired by Martha Stewart, Mario Batali, Bobby Flay and Emeril Lagasse, among others.
“If you’re a fan of New York’s best, this is the place for you,” wrote Lee in an email. “It’s a sweet way to be sweet!”
The event supports the Share Our Strength Bake Sale for No Kid Hungry campaign, a national fundraising initiative that encourages people to host bake sales to help end childhood hunger in America.
“As a Share Our Strength partner for eight years and the spokesperson for their largest annual fundraiser, Bake Sale for No Kid Hungry, I am committed to ending childhood hunger,” Lee said in a statement. “We will raise much needed funds to help families have access to nutritious foods.”
Proceeds from all baked goods sold will benefit the campaign as well as the Food Bank for New York City. There will also be a charity auction with items signed by the celeb chairs.
Sandra Lee’s World’s Largest Bake Sale is at Vanderbilt Hall from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. Wednesday. Each treat is $5.
