Stars set to stud 12th Tribeca Film Festival
Kate Hudson, Paul Rudd, Zac Efron and Paul Giamatti are just a few of the big names with movies in this year's Tribeca Film Festival, hitting the Big Apple from April 17 to 28.
One of the biggest New York stories in the slate, which was released yesterday, is "The Reluctant Fundamentalist," an adaptation of Mohsin Hamid's 2007 novel set right after 9/11, starring Hudson, Kiefer Sutherland and Liev Schreiber.
Funnyman Rudd stars in two flicks at the 12th annual festival. In "Prince Avalanche," he and Emile Hirsch play two men repainting a highway in a fire-damaged forest in the summer of 1988, while in "Almost Christmas," Rudd and Giamatti go the buddy comedy route, playing French Canadians involved in a Christmas tree get-rich-quick scheme.
In "At Any Price," former "High School Musical" star Efron continues his move away from song-and-dance, in a heartfelt father-and-son story set in Iowa and co-starring Dennis Quaid.
Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke continue their much-loved on-screen relationship in "Before Midnight," the third movie in the film series that started with 1995's "Before Sunrise."
Tickets for the dozens of movies at the festival, which Robert De Niro started as a way to bring business downtown after 9/11, go on sale Monday.
