Veridict: Not Sick of 'American Idol'

Wednesday marked the premiere of "American Idol's" 11th season - or, as judge Randy Jackson continuously referred to it, "Season one-one!!!" (We won't get sick of that anytime soon.) Despite its reported drop in ratings, we thought it was a semi-successful debut. We won't go into the auditions, held in Georgia, but we will say this: Compared to its bloated and garish rivals "The Voice" and "The X Factor," "Idol" seems quaint in comaprison - like a return to homebase.

That's not to say the show is without flaws (namely the lack of any star-powered winners since Carrie Underwood), but for now, we'll take it over the gimmicky competition.
