Shuttle service to help Greenpoint ferry riders

East River Ferry riders in Greenpoint whose nearby landing collapsed during last Thursday's snowstorm will still be able to ride the waves thanks to a ride on a shuttle bus.

The ferry that brings Rockaway and south Brooklyn to Manhattan will continue riding the waves, but at a higher fare for passengers.

Ferries floated as way to expand NYC transit

The latest idea gaining steam to  improve outerborough transit  is a 19th century mode of transportation.

With the two-year-old East River Ferry beating ridership expectations, the New York City Economic Development Corp. identified five promising new routes and stops for commuter ferries in a recent 115-page report on the viability of a citywide ferry network.
