Midlife heart scans
Greg Thomas M.D. of Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo California says with the advent of CT scanning for the heart cardiologists can detect very small amounts of calcium in the arteries an indication of blockage in those arteries. Dr. Thomas explains how giving these heart scans to people at midlife allows doctors to start administering cholesterollowering medications to patients found to have these calcium blockages.
