I volunteer at Last Hope Inc. Animal Rescue & Rehabilitation. There are two types of volunteers here -- dog and cat. I am a cat volunteer. I feed the cats, give them water, clean their cages, change and clean litter boxes, play with them and more.
Dog volunteers feed and give water to the dogs, clean their cages, walk the dogs and play with them.
Adopting is the saddest and hardest part of the rescue process. If the cat or dog is injured in any way, it could take longer for someone to want to take care of it or to devote time and money to it. If you get attached to an animal, it is hard to say goodbye. But when you know the animal is getting a loving forever home, it is all worth it.
In the main room, volunteers will be washing food and water bowls, litter boxes, caring for sick cats and young kittens. And the free-roaming rooms are where some of the adult cats stay. Remember, most of these cats were once strays and were rescued by volunteers who are not paid anything. These cats just want homes and love.
If you have a love and passion for animals like I do and would like to volunteer at
