OSSINING - A wake was held today for a prominent Briarcliff Manor attorney who was also the Republican candidate for Ossining town justice.

Police say Michelle Sergio, 38, was allegedly drunk when she struck and killed John Mangialardi with her car at the intersection of routes 9A and 134. Authorities say Mangialardi was posting campaign signs when he was killed.

Sergio, of Nanuet, has been charged with vehicular manslaughter in his death. Police told News 12 that her blood alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit when she hit Mangialardi.

She is due back in court this week.

Mangialardi’s funeral will be held Monday morning at St. Augustine’s in Ossining.
