Westchester County Association seeks protégés, mentors
Westchester County Association’s new program seeking to help young local companies grow is still taking applications from future protégés and signing up more mentors.
The program, called the Blueprint Accelerator Network, is targeting “early stage companies that are operational and can demonstrate that they have had revenue for the last six months,” said Marissa Brett, the association's executive director.
So far, her organization has been receiving many applications from startups with ideas for new businesses, but that's not what the group is looking for.
“We’re seeing a lot of applicants who want to launch businesses compared to those that want to grow their business,” she said. “We’re trying to find the ones with the best potential to grow and create jobs and enhance the economy in Westchester.”
So far, 28 mentor companies have signed up to lend a hand by offering management, marketing, real estate and development know-how. These include law firms, accounting and financial service companies, Realtors and some design firms.
The list includes three more that were announced Thursday which broaden out the Accelerator’s offering: Intelligist Group, a business strategy consulting firm from White Plains; Search Smart Marketing of Valhalla which specializes in search engine optimization for websites; and Spencer Design Group of Armonk.
The association began seeking applicants this summer and hopes to announce its first Blueprint program candidates by year's end. For more information about requirements, which include a $250 application fee, contact the association at its website: http://www.blueprintforwestchester.com/
Association member companies that have signed up to help include: BioMed Realty; Bleakley Platt & Schmidt, LLP; Celestial Capital; Community Capital Resources; CMS Bank; Compufit; Cuddy & Feder, LLP; George Comfort and Sons; Greater Hudson Bank; Harrison Edwards, Inc.; Heritage Realty; Heyman Properties; Intelligist Group; Key Bank; Mack-Cali Realty; Mahopac National Bank; M & T Bank; Normandy Real Estate Partners; O’Connor Davies LLP; Provident Bank; Reckson, a Division of SL Green Realty Corp.; RPW Group; Search Smart Marketing; Spencer Creative Group; WEDC and The Westchester Bank.
