Where to see a psychic on Long Island

In uncertain times, we're all looking for answers. Some turn to a financial adviser, some to clergy and others to clairvoyants. If you're the latter, experts say the best thing you can bring to a session with a psychic is an open mind. You may also want to bring a recording device, notepad or someone else as a backup to hear what you miss -- if the psychic agrees. Here are some psychics on Long Island:

Jeffrey Wands: Psychic Eye Media, 8 Haven Ave., Suite 223, Port Washington, 516-883-5959, jeffreywands.com

KNOWN FOR: In addition to authoring "Another Door Opens" (Atria, 2006, $22) and "The Psychic in You" (Pocket Books, 2005, $14.95), Wands hosts a radio show and also appears regularly on WALK 97.5's "Breakfast Club" with Mark and Mindy. "When I'm on the radio, questions go from careers to love," Wands says. "I bridge the gap from here to the spirit world and close that bridge or allow clients to say goodbye to a loved one."

WHERE TO SEE: Call Wands (631-955-9750) 10 p.m.-midnight Sundays during his radio show or 6-10 a.m. on the first Friday of the month. He's hosting a gallery-style dinner show and reading March 16 at the Boulton Center in Bay Shore ($35, 37 W. Main St., boultoncenter.org ). Private readings are $175 per half-hour.

Robert E. Hansen: 3888 Merrick Rd., Seaford, 516-868-7778, robertehansen.com

KNOWN FOR: Hansen says he communicates with people who have died. In a group setting, he focuses on delivering messages from beyond, rather than answer questions from the living. He also works with special-needs children to help them communicate with those around them.

WHERE TO SEE: Hansen appears at 7 p.m. Jan. 28 at Governor's Comedy Club in Levittown ($29, 90 Division Ave., 516-731-3358, govs.com ). He's also hosting a workshop in Seaford 7 p.m. Feb. 28 ($39 advance purchase, personal reading not guaranteed). Private readings from $300 per half hour.

Cindi Sansone-Braff: 631-475-4266, grantmeahigherlove.com

COST: $75 per hour individual, workshop fees vary by hosting group.

KNOWN FOR: Called the "romance whisperer," this Patchogue-based psychic says she conducts conversations with the dead. "Not all love is created equally," she says. "Some love is toxic or lukewarm love. There also is soulmate love."
