STAMFORD - Stamford police are investigating a brutal attack at a taxi dispatch center early this morning.

It happened between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. at Eveready Cab on Lennox Avenue.

Authorities say the dispatcher was so busy he didn't even look when he buzzed the suspect into the building, allowing the suspect to circumvent some of the establishment's security.

Police say someone severely beat one of the dispatchers over the head with a handgun. The victim suffered several broken bones.

The owner of the business, Vito Bochiccio, says nothing like this has ever happened before, and the suspect took thousands of dollars.

Bochiccio says he spent the entire day updating the security cameras that were not working.
