Worlds medalists to compete in NYC open-water race
NEW YORK - NEW YORK (AP) — World championships medalists Andrew Gemmell and Francis Crippen will compete in the inaugural NYC Pro Swim 10-kilometer open-water race next month.
The event will be held off Governors Island near Manhattan on Sept. 6. Gemmell won the silver medal and Crippen the bronze in the 10K at the recent world championships in Rome.
More than 40 swimmers will compete for over $25,000 in prize money in the seventh stop on the 10-race FINA pro circuit.
