Would-be 18th birthday party held for slain Bronx teen Alphona Bryant

Alphona Bryant, also known as known as Bee Jay, was out with his friends on Fox Street when he was fatally shot by alleged members of the Latin Kings this past April.

THE BRONX - Friends and family of a slain Bronx teen held a would-be 18th birthday party for him today in Morrisania.

Alphona Bryant, also known as known as Bee Jay, was out with his friends on Fox Street when he was fatally shot by alleged members of the Latin Kings this past April. Police believe the shooting death was a case of mistaken identity.

Bryant’s mother says the day’s event will hopefully encourage others to stop gun violence in the neighborhood.

Two men were arrested in connection to Bryant’s shooting. They are awaiting trial.
