The two cornered the victim and dug a cellphone out of his pocket, police said. One of the men tried to grab his wallet as well.

But the victim managed to free himself and ran into a nearby store yelling for help. The suspects followed him, officials said, but stopped when store workers said they were calling the police.

One of the suspects then returned the stolen cellphone to the victim, saying he "didn't want any problems," Yonkers police said in a statement. The pair then fled on foot.

Both of the suspects were described as being about 5 feet, 6 inches tall and around 20 years old. The victim described one as being heavyset and was wearing a black shirt, police said. The other was wearing a red shirt and hat.
