Yonkers mailman stole cash, cops say

NEWS 12 WESTCHESTER: Cops: Yonkers mailman busted for stealing mail. (Feb. 1, 2013)

A Yonkers mailman has been arrested for allegedly swiping the mail instead of delivering it.

Robert Moore Jr. has admitted to stealing gift cards and envelopes containing cash totaling about $2,500, federal investigators say. The mail thefts reportedly went on from April until Thursday.

Moore, who's been a mailman for more than 25 years, worked out of the Yonkers East Post Office on Yonkers Avenue.

Moore is on emergency suspension without pay and faces up to five years in prison if convicted.
