Youth prescription drug abuse on the rise in Vt
MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — Vermont health officials say they're seeing a rise in prescription drug abuse among young adults.
Barbara Cimaglio, deputy commissioner at the Vermont Department of Health, says in 2005, 710 people came in for treatment with a primary addiction to heroin, and 719 addicted to prescription drugs. She said by 2008, 617 were admitted for heroin treatment, and 1,602 for prescription...
