More rain is possible Sunday but the sun is also expected to make an appearance although Long Island probably won't get a totally sunny day until Tuesday.

Sunday there is a slight chance of showers, with thunderstorms possible after 5 p.m., the National Weather Service said Saturday evening. The chance of precipitation is 20% for Sunday but the skies should gradually become mostly sunny. The high temperature will be about 69 degrees — one degree warmer than the normal high for the date in Islip — and a south wind should blow at 3 mph to 8 mph.

Sunday night the will be a chance of showers and thunderstorms and patchy fog after 11 p.m. The thermometer could drop to about 55 degrees.

Showers are likely Monday, the first day of the workweek, and a thunderstorm is possible, the weather service said.

Finally, a sunny day is expected Tuesday and at least partly sunny skies should rule for the rest of the week.

High temperatures through Saturday are expected to range from about 64 degrees on Thursday all the way up to a summery 79 degrees on Saturday, according to the weather service said.
