MOUNT VERNON - Two dogs were shot to death by police yesterday, after the animals attacked two people in Mount Vernon.

Police say the attacks happened just after 4 p.m. near 160 North Macquesten Parkway. When they arrived on the scene, officers fired multiple shots, hitting and killing a pit bull and another dog.

Neighbors say the dogs were following people on the street when they suddenly attacked and bit two people. One neighbor says this was an incident waiting to happen. "Last month I called 911 because they tried to kill me too. Those dogs, when they are out, they be looking to kill anybody," says neighbor Luis Soto.
