Police identify 4 victims in Central Islip park slayings

Suffolk County police are investigating the brutal slayings of four young men whose bodied were found in a small park in Central Islip on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, according to Police Commissioner Timothy Sini, who said “all indications are that this is the work of MS-13,” a violent gang thought to be behind a spate of killings in the area.

Suffolk County police are investigating the brutal slayings of four young men whose bodied were found in a small park in Central Islip on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, according to Police Commissioner Timothy Sini, who said “all indications are that this is the work of MS-13,” a violent gang thought to be behind a spate of killings in the area. 

The four victims were identified as Jorge Tigre, 18, of Bellport; Justin Llivicura, 16, of East Patchogue; Jefferson Villalobos, 18, of Pompano Beach, Florida; and Villalobos' cousin, Michael Lopez Banegas, 20, of Brentwood. 

Llivicura's funeral was held Wednesday, April 19, and funerals for Banegas and Tigre were held Thursday, April 20. Villalobos' family was considering transporting his body to Honduras, his mother, Francis Villalobos, told Newsday.

Suffolk Police Commissioner Timothy Sini holds a news conference on Thursday, April 13, 2017, a day after four young men were found slain in a Central Islip park. The manner in which they were killed is “consistent with the modus operandi of MS-13,” the notorious street gang responsible for the wave of violence that has terrorized the Brentwood and Central Islip communities, said Sini, who offered a reward for tips leading to the arrest of those responsible for the deaths.
