President Trump's travel ban prompts protests in Battery Park, JFK, Brooklyn

Thousands of protesters marched from Battery Park to Foley Square in lower Manhattan on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017, just days after President Donald Trump signed an executive order banning non-U.S. citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries entry into the United States.

The protest, which was co-sponsored by multiple local organizations, including the New York Immigration Coalition and Make the Road New York, came one day after a federal judge blocked part of President Trump’s executive order. That news brought cheers from hundreds of people gathered outside the U.S. District Court courthouse in Brooklyn on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017, and from hundreds more protesters who had demonstrated throughout the day at Kennedy Airport’s international arrivals terminal.
