BELMAR - A group of fishermen from Belmar traveled to California for a fishing trip, and they managed to reel in something massive: a 1,029-pound mako shark.

It was the fifth-largest mako to ever be caught along California's coast. The shark didn't go willingly: it put up a fight for more than three hours. Angler Jim "Big Man" Pappacio fought the fish while sitting on an Igloo cooler, the crew says.

The fish was caught Wednesday off of California's Huntington Beach.

The crew says the monster mako was donated to a California charity that feeds the homeless.
